Measuring your tank for a tank bra

There are four measurements we need to design and make a tank bra to fit your bike. Use a soft tape measure for these and let the tape lay against the tank, following any curve or contour:

Want to design the template yourself?

If you'd rather draw the actual template (some folks like to), grab a piece of poster board at least 36 inches long, a felt-tip pen and a pencil with eraser, scissors, and whatever tools are needed to remove the instrument panel on your tank if you have one.

Sketch the rough shape from front to back. Will it taper from front to seat? Stay the same width? Have an hourglass shape? Look at other tank bras for inspiration.

If you have an instrument panel, remove it, lay the rough template over the tank centered and positioned correctly, then re-install the panel through the rough template (you'll punch holes for the bolts). Trace the outline of the panel onto the template, staying tight to the edge.

Final step: cut the actual bra outline on a large piece of paper, including the fuel-cap hole, lay it on the tank to confirm it fits, and trace where the seat overlaps. Mail it to us and we'll do the rest — pocket, fringe, conchos, studs, all that good stuff.
